When the Guzman brothers and Mark Cowell formed G&C Direct Mail Marketing Inc. in Dallas 11 years ago, larger direct mail businesses were biting off more than they could chew. The larger companies wanted more clients, but didn't have the capacity to serve them all.

"That's how we got the bulk of our business — because other companies took on too much and failed," said G&C Executive Vice President Mark Cowell, 53. He got his start working for his brother's ad agency in Kentucky, but moved to Dallas in 1981 and remained in the sales and marketing field, networking with clients along the way.
